The Irreplaceability of Glass Lenses  
Optical glass serves as the foundation of professional lenses because it possesses three characteristics that are difficult for plastics to achieve simultaneously. 
First is exceptional optical purity. Professional optical glass is manufactured with extremely strict control over defects such as bubbles, streaks, and impurities, ensuring that light passing through the lens does not produce stray reflections, thereby maintaining high contrast and clarity in images. Second is outstanding chemical and physical stability. High-quality optical glass can remain unchanged in shape and properties for decades. Third is processability. Glass can be precisely ground and polished to achieve extremely high surface accuracy, and can also be coated with multiple ultra-thin anti-reflective layers. These processes enable lenses to deliver resolution capable of matching today's sensors with millions or even tens of millions of pixels, fully unleashing the potential of every single pixel. 
Glass also has its "high and low" distinctions.  
Of course, not all lenses labeled as "fully glass" are the same. Ordinary window glass and optical glass are two different things. Professional lenses often use special materials such as lanthanum glass and ultra-low dispersion glass to eliminate focusing deviations among different wavelengths of light.
